- Recursive routing for the Kademlia protocol
- GlobalNodeList now internally uses a better data structure (implemented in the PeerStorage class). This allows for random node access in O(1).

- Open position for a PhD student in a junior research group working on the topic of distributed social networks. This position includes the development and evaluation of new protocols with OverSim.

- We successfully presented OverSim at the IEEE P2P'09 in Seattle, USA. After giving an invited talk in the Evaluation Tools Session we presented OverSim's features for real network application in the following demo session.

- The GI/ITG Fachgruppe KuVS has awarded the OverSim project with the KuVS Communication Software prize. The prize is awarded for innovative software for use in communication and distributed systems.
January 16, 2009
- OverSim was successfully deployed in the PlanetLab research network on about 450 nodes to provide the peer-to-peer name service P2PNS. The P2PNS name service is used to built a P2P SIP VoIP network without servers. There is a P2P SIP demo website which shows the current overlay status and allows to make P2PSIP test calls.
